Super Nutrition for the New Millenium
What do you feed your car?
If you saved your hard-earned money until you had enough to buy your dream car, what kind of fuel would you put in it? Would you buy the cheapest gas? Would you dilute the gas with water? Of course not! You'd consult the manufacturer and use the fuel that the engine was designed to use in order to achieve maximum power, highest efficiency and least wear. Right? Do you feed your car better than you feed yourself?
In the last 50 years we have shifted our eating habits drastically! We now eat commercially raised and commercially processed food. We are eating things that have been identified as "junk" food. We are eating foods that are not foods! In fact, I've heard that there are over 15,000 foods on the market that are not even food. We are eating foods that are ...
- Chemically grown
- Pesticide soaked
- Genetically altered
- Synthesized
- Medicated
- Pasteurized
- Homogenized
- Hormone injected
- Antibiotic treated
- Chemically colored
- Preserved
- Irradiated
- Microwaved
Does that sound a lot like "diluting your gas"?
Fortunately, Scientists Have Discovered "Real" Food!
Scientists are beginning to recognize that the foods we eat play a key role in the health and disease that we experience. In particular, they are finding that "real" foods; ie., vegetables, grains, fruits, etc. are the best. They've discovered that in addition to the commonly known vitamins and minerals, these foods contain many newly discovered "micro-nutrients". They also suspect that there are thousands of nutrients we don't even have names for yet! And, most importantly, all of these work together to contribute to our well-being.
An article titled Beyond Vitamins appeared in Newsweek a few years ago and stated, "Whole foods - especially fruits and vegetables - pack a disease-preventing wallop because they harbor a whole variety of compounds that have never seen the inside of a vitamin bottle. These compounds are called "phytochemicals".
It seems to me that eating "real" food is just like putting the right fuel in your automobile. In order to achieve maximum power, highest efficiency, and least wear, it only makes sense to feed your body the fuel that was designed by the same engineer who designed you. Wouldn't you agree?
Thought: "You can get a new car, but not a new body!"
